Vic deals with trauma on “Heaven On Earth.” Vic Mensa’s album The Autobiography has dropped officially after being released on NPR for an early listen. As expected, the album occupies ample time exploring Vic’s narrative as a young Chicago artist, and Mensa doesn’t hold back.
On numerous cuts, including the standout “Heaven On Earth,” Vic’s essentially pouring his heart out with unflinching honesty. “Heaven On Earth,” is, at its core, a conceptual track.
In the first verse, Vic pens a letter to his fallen homie Cam, and in the following verse, Vic raps from the dead’s perspective.
The song also features the tragic set-up that led to Cam’s death, which Vic recounts with a storyteller’s keen eye.
